Latest Bigfoot Claims

A few people have asked me what I think of the claim by Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer that they have a Bigfoot corpse in their freezer. Frankly I'm skeptical. Whitten has already admitted faking a video and there are numerous reports of other hoax activity from the pair.

A press conference is due to be held within the next 24 hours and we'll see what comes out of that. If we don't see full disclosure with an offer for the body to be examined by independent medical examiners, I won't bother spending any more time thinking about it.

  1. Well, no surprises from the press conference. The initial DNA analysis found a mixture of human and opossum DNA. No body was produced (it's in a hidden location for unknown reasons). No independent scientists are allowed to examine the body. In short, nothing to see here.

I'm not sure if these guys ever think they are actually going to convince anyone of their claims. I have a sneaking suspicion that it doesn't matter to them. All they need to do is create media interest around the story so they can make money out of it. I'll bet their website statistics have gone through the roof - that equals money. If Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer are happy to live with some ridicule, this is a nice way to make a lot of cash.

  2. Just to tidy this up, the claim has been confirmed as a clumsy, unsophisticated hoax.

Who wants to make some easy money? For the price of a cheap gorilla suit and some offal, you could be the one raking in the cash. It really is that easy. Next time you watch one of these stories unfold, remind yourself how much money the hoaxers are making every day that the story stays in the headlines. It's absolutely crazy that you can make money this way but it works.

  3. Hoaxers really should be prosecuted.

The damage they do to serious investigation is beyond words.
